Burnley secured their return to the Premier League after beating Queens Park Rangers 1-0.
The Clarets needed to beat the R's to secure their top-flight return at the first time of asking, and Sam Vokes' goal proved decisive. After a goalless first half, Vokes nodded an in-swinging free-kick into the corner of the net to spark jubilant scenes at Turf Moor.
The Clarets are only two points above Middlesbrough and Brighton & Hove Albion in the table with one game to go, but those two promotion rivals clash on the final day, meaning Burnley can't be caught.
After sealing promotion, manager Sean Dyche told the club's official website: “There have been so many good things this season and people forget we’re nearly half a season unbeaten, finishing in promotion for this club. I’m not sure it will be done again!
“It’s an absolutely massive achievement. I’ve been building this all season. It’s been by design and you have all the ups and downs and all the knocks, but you have to process all that and staying firm and solid to your beliefs.
“We will be going for the title now, make no mistake.
“The lads will enjoy the moment and go out and have a few drinks, but Thursday we will come back in and we will be ready. I’ve explained that.
“Two years ago we were runners-up. Now we have a chance to get our hands on that trophy, so we will be going hard for it.”
Dyche's men travel to Charlton Athletic on the final weekend of the season knowing another victory would secure the Sky Bet Championship title.
