Brighton & Hove Albion or Sheffield Wednesday will book their place in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final on Monday night and it’s the latter who have the upper hand.Goals from Ross Wallace and Kieran Lee were the men on target for the Owls in the first leg to give them a lead ahead of Monday’s return instalment at the Amex.
The view from the Brighton dugout
Seagulls boss Chris Hughton remains upbeat and has every faith in his side.
He told seagulls.co.uk: “We’re always confident at home, because you have to be, but we’re realistic enough to know it will be a tough task. You’re playing against a very good team in Sheffield Wednesday.
“There are certainly positives that they can gain from Friday and it’s a cup final. We know that, there was a great atmosphere at Hillsborough and we want to re-create that at the Amex and make a game of it.
“I don’t think it will be tough [to raise the players’ spirits], because they know what’s at stake. If we win by two or more goals, then we have a chance of getting to the final.
“There certainly won’t be a player in that changing room that won’t be up for it or won’t feel that they can do it."
The view from the Sheffield Wednesday dugout
Despite their two-goal advantage Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal insists his side remain grounded, aware of the dangers that Brighton, who finished third in the table, possess.
He told swfc.co.uk: ”We are absolutely and 100 per cent focused and ready to go. As far as we are concerned, the score is 0-0 when we kick off on Monday.
“Brighton are a dangerous opponent, absolutely sure and they know what they must do.
“But we do also. And we are feeling good, feeling fresh mentally and physically.
“We will prepare for this game exactly the same as every game we have played this season. There is no other way.
“I do not even think about the final. I think 100 per cent about the second leg and we are going to Brighton to give our absolute best.”
