Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 35 review

5 March 2016

Barnsley have moved into the Play-Off positions in Sky Bet League 1 following a 3-1 victory over promotion chasing Walsall on Matchday 35.

The Tykes won their third match in a row to leapfrog Coventry City in the table, who lost 1-0 at home to Rochdale.

None of the top four sides were able to claim victory as Burton Albion drew 1-1 with Crewe Alexandra, while Wigan Atletic were held to the same scoreline against Peterborough United.

Gillingham were involved in a goalless draw at Scunthorpe, giving Millwall the chance to enter the automatic promotion mix which they grasped with both hands seeing off Blackpool 3-0 at the Den.

Port Vale continued their fine form at home to defeat Colchester United 2-0, while Southend United conceded a late goal to lose 1-0 at home to Chesterfield, to lose ground on the teams above.

Sheffield United also scored late to grab a 2-2 draw at Fleetwood Town, and Doncaster Rovers slipped down a place to 20th after a 1-0 home defeat to Shrewsbury Town.

Elsewhere, Bury drew 0-0 with Bradford City while the game between Oldham Athletic and Swindon Town was postponed due to heavy snow.
