Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 34 review

1 March 2016

Burton Albion opened up a four-point lead at the top of Sky Bet League 1 after beating Sheffield United 1-0 at Bramall Lane.

Lucas Akins scored the only goal of the game as manager Nigel Clough made a winning return to his former club.

Below the Brewers, Wigan Athletic, Walsall and Gillingham all dropped points.

Wigan survived for an hour with 10 men to draw 0-0 at Millwall, while Walsall were held to the same result at home to Scunthorpe and Gillingham lost their third game on the bounce - going down 2-1 at Fleetwood Town.

Barnsley’s remarkable rise up the table continued, and they now sit outside the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off places on goal difference only after a 2-0 win at home to Coventry City.
