Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 36 review

13 March 2016

Burnley extended their lead at the top of the Sky Bet Championship with a 3-1 win at Huddersfield Town.

Goals from Stephen Ward, Sam Vokes and Ben Mee extended the Clarets’ winning run to six matches.

Hull City had a chance to move into second, but could only manage a 1-1 draw with struggling Milton Keynes Dons.

MK’s point was matched by Rotherham who fought back superbly from 3-0 down to draw at home to Derby County, and Bristol City won 2-1 at Fulham to edge them three points further from the relegation zone.

Bolton Wanderers remain rooted to the bottom after a defeat to local rivals Preston North End.

Sheffield Wednesday’s emphatic win at Nottingham Forest kept them in sixth, with Cardiff City on their tails after defeating Ipswich in Wales.

Elsewhere, Queens Park Rangers cruised past Brentford 3-0 in a west London Derby, while Leeds United won 2-1 at Blackburn Rovers in a lunchtime clash.

On Sunday, Charlton Athletic inflicted a second successive defeat upon Middlesbrough, as Jorge Teixeira and Callum Harriott goals reduced their gap to safety to five points. In the lunchtime game, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City drew 0-0 at Molineux.
