Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 36 preview

11 March 2016

Table-topping Burnley take on Huddersfield Town this weekend in their bid for a sixth consecutive Sky Bet Championship victory.

The Clarets' outstanding run of form saw Sean Dyche claim February's Manager of the Month award, and that success has continued into March with wins against rivals Blackburn Rovers and Fulham.

Here are the Matchday 36 fixtures - kick-off 3pm unless stated:

Saturday 12th March

Blackburn Rovers v Leeds United (12:30pm)
Bolton Wanderers v Preston North End
Cardiff City v Ipswich Town
Fulham v Bristol City
Huddersfield Town v Burnley
Hull City v Milton Keynes Dons
Nottingham Forest v Sheffield Wednesday
Queens Park Rangers v Brentford
Rotherham United v Derby County

Sunday 13th March

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Birmingham City (1:15pm - live on Sky Sports)
Charlton Athletic v Middlesbrough (3:30pm - live on Sky Sports)

Blackburn Rovers and Leeds United get The Football League weekend under way with a lunchtime fixture at Ewood Park, while there are two live Sky Sports screenings on Sunday afternoon to bring the action to a close.

In Saturday's 3pm fixtures, Cardiff and Ipswich go head-to-head in Wales. It's seventh versus eighth, and the two Play-Off hopefuls will be hoping Nottingham Forest can do them both a favour in their match with Sheffield Wednesday.

Carlos Carvalhal's Owls currently hold the final Play-Off place but, if they drop points at the City Ground, then they would find themselves leapfrogged if there's a winner at the Cardiff City Stadium.

At the other end of the table, Fulham host Bristol City with both teams hovering dangerously above the drop zone. The two have 37 points, just two clear of safety after an excellent few days for Rotherham United.

Neil Warnock has guided the Millers to back-to-back 1-0 wins against Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough, and Derby are the next challenge as they look to escape the clutches of the bottom three. MK Dons are just one point clear of trouble, and face a daunting trip to title-chasing Hull.

The Tigers have recently slipped to fourth, but have games in hand and will move back up to second with three points on Saturday. That's because Brighton are out of action this weekend, and second-placed Middlesbrough are one of the aforementioned Sunday matches.

Aitor Karanka takes his men to relegation-threatened Charlton Athletic in front of the Sky Sports cameras, which follows a West Midlands derby between Wolves and Birmingham at Molineux. The Blues' recent away form has been poor, something which needs addressing if they are to maintain their hopes of a top-six finish.

Two more local derbies complete Saturday's fixtures - a west London affair between QPR and Brentford, and Bolton versus Preston at the Macron Stadium.
