Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 34 review

5 March 2016

Burnley moved back to the top of the Sky Bet Championship with a narrow 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers in the early televised kick-off on Matchday 34.

Andre Gray netted from the penalty spot early in the first half which proved enough to seal maximum points and leapfrog Middlesbrough in the table.

Brighton & Hove Albion missed the chance to go third after a goalless draw with Preston North End, allowing Derby County to move to within four points of the Seagulls after they beat Huddersfield Town 2-0.

There were huge wins at the bottom of the league for Milton Keynes Dons, Rotherham United and Charlton Athletic.

The Dons beat Queens Park Rangers 2-0, Charlton defeated Brentford 2-1 at Griffin Park, while Neil Warnock’s Rotherham came out on top in the Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday, winning 1-0 at Hillsborough.

Cardiff City moved level on points with the Owls after their early 2-0 win at Bristol City. Elsewhere, Ipswich Town beat Nottingham Forest 1-0, Leeds United overcame Bolton Wanderers 2-1 at Elland Road and Reading drew 2-2 with Fulham.
