Bristol City defender Aden Flint has been named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for February.Benefitting from City reverting to a back four, the towering centre-back proved his worth at both ends of the pitch.
Flint helped preserve three clean sheets and headed home three corners, in wins over Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest.
Bristol City manager Lee Johnson said: “I’ve really enjoyed working with Aden since I arrived at the club and I’m delighted he’s won this award, it’s fully deserved.
“Aden has the potential to play as high as he wants.”
Flint said: “It’s been a great month for the team and I’m sure the goals I managed to score will have played a part in the award.
“Thanks to the staff and the rest of the lads for playing their part. We’re now looking forward to securing enough points to maintain our Championship status.”
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “The towering defender picks up the Championship Player of the Month award on the back of three headed goals in February, which have without doubt, given Bristol City a realistic chance of survival.
“Flint has proven over a long period of time to be equally adept in both areas, highlighted by the fact he has already notched a goal in March, too.”
Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “After 14 goals in League 1 last year it was always assumed that Aden Flint would weigh in with a few this season for Bristol City.
“However scoring three from centre back in a month where the Robins started to move towards safety is what has guaranteed Flint the individual award this month.”
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
