Gallery: EFL players past and present on the brink of history with Wales

Wales are preparing for the biggest game in their international football history on Wednesday evening, when they take on Portugal in the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Current EFL players Chris Gunter, David Edwards, David Cotterill and Jazz Richards could all play a part in helping Chris Coleman’s side reach a showpiece competition final for the first time.

Alongside those names are a host of players who also began their careers in the EFL. From Gareth Bale at Southampton and Joe Ledley at Cardiff City to Sam Vokes at Bournemouth and Ashley Williams at Stockport County, the EFL has helped shape the paths of the unexpected heroes on the cusp of a major final.
