EFL: The gaffers - a complete list of EFL managers ahead of Season 2016/17

26 July 2016

Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale remains the longest-serving EFL manager going into Season 2016/17, after celebrating his 10-year anniversary last month.

The Grecians' gaffer took over the club on 26th June 2006, leaving Team Bath to sign a one-year rolling contract at St James Park, and that's where he remains after two promotions and one relegation during his tenure.

Karl Robinson, the second-longest serving, is another boss to suffer relegation during his managerial career as his MK Dons side dropped out of the Sky Bet Championship last term. He's familiar to the Sky Bet League One touchline, though, having led the Dons out of the division in 2014/15, so will take confidence into this campaign.

Grimsby Town boss Paul Hurst comes in at third and he is well-versed with the EFL as a player having made nearly 500 appearances for Rotherham United, but Season 2016/17 will be his first foray as a manager in the EFL.

Jim Bentley's Morecambe are celebrating 10 years in the EFL this season, having won promotion out of non-league in 2006/07. Bentley, 40, captained the side when they beat Tisdale's Exeter City in the 2007 Conference Play-Off Final and, having taken over as boss in May 2011, he's the fourth-longest serving gaffer.

A familiar face in the EFL is Danny Wilson, with the Chesterfield boss - ranked 38th on the list - the only current manager in any of the three divisions to take charge of more than 1,000 games.

A number of clubs have made close-season appointments with 18 managers set to make their dugout debuts at new clubs on the opening weekend of 2016/17, which kicks off on Friday 5th August.
