Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 28 preview

22 January 2016

There’s a full schedule in Sky Bet League 1 on Matchday 28, with The Football League's top-scoring teams going head-to-head.

Gillingham and Peterborough United – both in the Play-Offs - have scored 105 goals between them this term and lock horns this weekend in one of the stand-out fixtures.

Here’s the list of games taking place on Saturday, with all matches kicking-off at 3pm:

Saturday 23rd January 2016

Barnsley v Rochdale
Burton Albion v Shrewsbury Town
Chesterfield v Millwall
Crewe Alexandra v Wigan Athletic
Fleetwood Town v Doncaster Rovers
Gillingham v Peterborough United
Oldham Athletic v Bury
Port Vale v Bradford City
Scunthorpe United v Colchester United
Sheffield United v Swindon Town
Southend United v Coventry City
Walsall v Blackpool

Burton Albion could potentially extend their lead at the top of Sky Bet League 1 with victory over Shrewsbury, however Walsall are poised to take advantage of any slip up as they entertain Blackpool.

Coventry and Wigan, who occupy the remaining Play-Off places alongside Gillingham and Peterborough, have away fixtures against Crewe and Southend respectively.

Sheffield United and Millwall are both a point shy of a top-six position - the Blades host Swindon, who have won their opening two games in 2016, while the Lions travel to Chesterfield, who have won two of their last three.

Bradford City have two games in hand on the teams directly above them and could close the gap on the top six with victory over Port Vale. The Valiants will leapfrog their opponents if they clinch maximum points.

Doncaster Rovers, unbeaten in their last three, visit Fleetwood Town who are just one point above the relegation zone.

Elsewhere Colchester United visit Scunthorpe United, Barnsley take on Rochdale at Oakwell and Oldham Athletic, without a win in their last eight, entertain a Bury side who have lost four straight league games.
