Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 27 preview

15 January 2016

Any one of four clubs could sit at the Sky Bet League 1 summit after Matchday 27, with Coventry City versus Burton Albion top of the bill.

Gillingham and Walsall are also in contention for top spot on a weekend that concludes on Sunday afternoon, when Millwall host Port Vale.

Here's what's coming up this weekend in Sky Bet League 1, with all matches kicking-off at 3pm:

Saturday 16th January 2016

Blackpool v Scunthorpe United
Bradford City v Oldham Athletic
Bury v Walsall
Colchester United v Sheffield United
Coventry City v Burton Albion
Doncaster Rovers v Gillingham
Peterborough United v Southend United
Rochdale v Fleetwood United
Shrewsbury Town v Barnsley
Swindon Town v Crewe Alexandra
Wigan Athletic v Chesterfield

Sunday 17th January 2016

Millwall v Port Vale

Coventry and Burton is the stand-out fixture on Saturday - the Sky Blues will overtake the current league leaders with three points at the Ricoh Arena, and they've been handed a boost in the transfer window this week.

If Tony Mowbray and his men can overcome the Brewers, then Gillingham and Walsall are poised to take advantage - both sides are away however, facing respective trips to Doncaster and Bury.

Wigan and Peterborough are the closest contenders to the top four. The Latics are at home to Chesterfield, who have hit 10 goals in their past two outings, while Posh welcome Southend, who have lost their last three.

Blackpool have also lost three in a row and currently sit in the relegation zone. They host Scunthorpe; Colchester are at home to Sheffield United, and bottom club Crewe travel to Swindon.

The other side occupying a relegation place are Oldham, and they go to Bradford with a new man at the helm. John Sheridan was re-appointed at Boundary Park this week, and he takes his troops on the short trip to the Bantams.
