Adam Armstrong and Lee Novak both hit hat-tricks on a goal-filled afternoon in Sky Bet League 1.
Armstrong was scoring for fun in 2015, and it seems he has no intention of stopping this year. The Coventry City teenager scored three of the five goals that the Sky Blues put past bottom club Crewe Alexandra.Chesterfield entered the New Year on the back of an eight-game winless run, but they brought that to an end in some style with a 7-1 rout of Shrewsbury Town. Novak's treble was added to by braces from Jay O'Shea and Rai Simons.

Elsewhere, Barnsley and Fleetwood Town picked up home wins, while the games between Oldham Athletic and Colchester United, and Scunthorpe United and Wigan Athletic, both finished 1-1.
