Sky Bet Football League midweek review

Nottingham Forest extended their unbeaten run to 13 matches as they drew 0-0 with Queens Park Rangers in the Sky Bet Championship.

That was one of two Championship games played on Tuesday night, alongside eight other Football League fixtures.

The other game in the Championship saw Leeds United take a point at Brentford, with Mustapha Carayol scoring late on to cancel out Sam Saunders’ opener.

In Sky Bet League 1, Burton Albion moved back to the summit courtesy of a 1-0 victory at Peterborough United. Tom Naylor scored the only goal of the game and the Brewers leapfrogged Gillingham as a result.

Elsewhere, Port Vale won 2-1 at Doncaster Rovers, while Oldham Athletic and Barnsley also secured away day triumphs.

There was late drama in Sky Bet League 2 as Mansfield Town scored twice in the last five minutes to beat Morecambe 2-1. Paul Mullin put the Shrimps ahead in the 71st minute, before the Stags’ late turnaround.

Kevin Nolan’s home debut as Leyton Orient player-manager ended in victory - 1-0 over Newport County thanks to Jay Simpson’s 22nd goal of the season - and that lifted them up to sixth.
