Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 27 preview

15 January 2016

The Sky Bet Championship games continue to arrive thick and fast, and there's another full schedule in store this weekend.

The action begins at Griffin Park on Friday evening, when Brentford host Burnley live on Sky Sports.

Here's a look at the Sky Bet Championship Matchday 27 fixtures in full (kick-off times are 3pm unless stated):

Friday 15th January

Brentford v Burnley (7.45pm - live on Sky Sports)

Saturday 16th January

Blackburn Rovers v Brighton & Hove Albion
Bristol City v Middlesbrough
Derby County v Birmingham City
Huddersfield Town v Fulham
Hull City v Charlton Athletic
Ipswich Town v Preston North End
Milton Keynes Dons v Reading
Nottingham Forest v Bolton Wanderers
Rotherham United v Queens Park Rangers
Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds United (12.30pm - live on Sky Sports)
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Cardiff City

On Saturday, another Sky Sports screening kicks off the day, with Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United going head-to-head at Hillsborough.

Hosts Wednesday have recently recorded back-to-back Sky Bet Championship wins, while Leeds' seven-game unbeaten run came to an end against Ipswich Town in midweek.

Leaders Middlesbrough face a lengthy trip south to face Bristol City, who suffered a third defeat in a row on Tuesday night to remain in the relegation places, which led to the sacking of Steve Cotterill on Thursday. John Pemberton will be the man leading the Robins this weekend.

Boro, meanwhile, have won in all of their last five, and haven't conceded a goal since mid-November.

Second-placed Hull City are also up against opposition in the drop zone - Charlton Athletic. The Addicks re-appointed Jose Riga on Thursday, after dismissing interim boss Karel Fraeye.

Derby County are without a victory in three, and come up against Birmingham City at the iPro Stadium, while the in-form Ipswich host Preston North End in Suffolk.

After going 21 games without loss this term, Brighton & Hove Albion have now slumped to defeat in each of their last three matches - and haven't won in seven. They go to Blackburn Rovers this time around, who have also suffered a dip in form after a positive start under manager Paul Lambert.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City are locked on 37 points each in ninth and 10th places in the standings, and lock horns at Molineux. Wolves have had an upsurge in form of late, winning four on the spin, while Cardiff have just one victory in their most recent five.

Huddersfield Town hit five past Charlton in midweek to make it three wins from four games, and they're at home again this weekend - this time against Fulham.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest entertain bottom club Bolton Wanderers at the City Ground, Milton Keynes Dons - who were beaten 5-0 by Burnley on Tuesday - host Reading and Queens Park Rangers continue their search for a first win under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Rotherham United.
