Birmingham City chasing a Fab five against Bristol City

29 January 2016

Two sides fighting at opposite ends of the Sky Bet Championship table meet on Saturday, when Birmingham City travel to Bristol City.

The visiting Blues are in good form ahead of the fixture, and manager Gary Rowett has been a busy man this week - strengthening the squad with the additions of Ryan Shotton and Diego Fabbrini.

Fabbrini's return

Diego Fabbrini returned to St Andrew's earlier this week, signing from fellow promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough for a fee of £1.5m.

The Italian was with the Blues on loan at the back end of last season, playing the final five games of the 2014/15 campaign. The season finished in style for Fabbrini and Birmingham...

A team in form

Only Burnley can match Birmingham's form over the past five games in the Championship, with the two sides both picking up 13 points from the last possible 15.

There's been some cracking goals along the way too, with the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Week going to Blues midfielders in successive weeks. Here are two thunderous volleys from Maikel Kieftenbeld and Jon Toral...

Ashton Gate success

Finally, the Blues are enjoying a good spell of form against this weekend's opponents. Birmingham have gone 10 games unbeaten against Bristol City, and have won the last four at Ashton Gate. Could they make it five in a row this weekend?...
