The bottom-four battle in the Sky Bet Championship

5 February 2016

The race for Sky Bet Championship survival is well and truly on - and this weekend is a big one for all four clubs at the bottom of the table.

Bolton Wanderers, Charlton Athletic and Bristol City currently occupy the three relegation places, while Rotherham United are perched one place above the drop zone, possessing a superior goal difference to the Robins.

The four of them go head-to-head in Matchday 30, with Bolton hosting Rotherham and City making the trip to Charlton. Milton Keynes Dons are the other side who could fall into the bottom three this weekend - they're away at Cardiff City.

Bolton Wanderers

Bolton can go into the weekend in relatively high spirits, having ended a three-game losing drought with four points from their last two fixtures.

A 3-1 win over MK Dons halted the unwanted streak, and the Trotters produced a stunning late comeback to grab a point at Wolves in midweek, drawing 2-2 at Molineux.

Charlton Athletic

After going 11 games without tasting success, Charlton finally grabbed victory in their last outing by recording a vital, and emphatic, 4-1 win at Rotherham.

It was Jose Riga's first triumph since taking returning to The Valley and the Addicks have now picked up four points from their last two - not a bad response after losing 5-0 and 6-0 in successive matches prior.

Bristol City

Football can be a game of fine margins, and that has proved to be the case for Bristol City over recent weeks as they've lost three of their last five by the odd goal.

However, it works both ways - the Robins upset the form book to nick a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in mid-January, and they battled to a goalless draw with Birmingham City last time out. However, John Pemberton's men haven't found the net on their Championship travels in four outings.

Rotherham United

That aforementioned defeat to Charlton extended Rotherham's winless run to three games and they, like Bristol City, have picked up just four points from the last possible 24.

The Millers have also gone five games without an away win ahead of Saturday's trip to the Macron Stadium, picking up just one point on the road in that period.
