Wigan Athletic closed the gap at the top of Sky Bet League 1 with a comfortable 3-0 win over Bury.
The Latics scored three times in the first 21 minutes to put the fixture to bed, and they are now just two points adrift of Burton who drew 0-0 with fellow promotion hopefuls Walsall.
Millwall, Gillingham and Coventry - the other three clubs in the top six - all dropped points, with the latter two both suffering 2-1 home defeats to Chesterfield and Fleetwood respectively. Millwall were held 1-1 at Doncaster.
Down towards the bottom, Colchester versus Shrewsbury finished goalless, Oldham extended their unbeaten run to six matches with a point at Scunthorpe, while Crewe and Blackpool both lost at home.
Meanwhile, Rochdale overcame Sheffield United 2-0 with Grant Holt scoring his first goal since returning to Spotland, and Swindon came back from behind to beat Peterborough 2-1.
