Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 33 Preview

26 February 2016

Two of the top four sides clash in Sky Bet League 1 on Matchday 33 as leaders Burton Albion welcome promotion-chasing Walsall to the Pirelli Stadium.

Nigel Clough's men are four points clear at the top and six ahead of Saturday's opponents, however Walsall could open up the top end of the division if they can take maximum points.

Here is a full list of fixtures taking place in Sky Bet League 1 on Matchday 33, with kick-off time 3pm unless stated otherwise:

Friday 26th February

Port Vale v Southend United (7.45pm)

Saturday 27th February

Blackpool v Bradford City
Burton Albion v Walsall
Colchester United v Shrewsbury Town
Coventry City v Fleetwood Town
Crewe Alexandra v Barnsley
Doncaster Rovers v Millwall
Gillingham v Chesterfield
Peterborough United v Swindon Town
Rochdale v Sheffield United
Scunthorpe United v Oldham Athletic
Wigan Athletic v Bury

Port Vale get the action under way on Friday evening when they take on a Southend United side who, for 24 hours at least, could find themselves in a Play-Off position if they can claim victory.

Second-placed Wigan Athletic entertain Bury at the DW Stadium knowing that a win would keep them in the automatic promotion places. Anything less could see Gillingham propel into the top two, but only if they beat Chesterfield at Priestfield.

Millwall, looking for their sixth straight away victory, travel north to play Doncaster Rovers who are without a win since the opening weekend of January.

Coventry City occupy the final Play-Off position in Sky Bet League 1 but will remain in the hunt for automatic promotion if they overcome relegation-threatened Fleetwood Town at the Ricoh Arena.

At the wrong end of the table, Oldham Athletic could escape the clutches of the bottom four with victory over Scunthorpe United.

John Sheridan's men are unbeaten in five and looking for their third straight win after defeating both Peterborough United and Gillingham in the last seven days.

Colchester United are 10 points from safety and without a win since October. They have a huge game against Shrewsbury Town who are also in the relegation zone, albeit on goal difference.

Elsewhere, Blackpool play Bradford City, Crewe Alexandra take on Barnsley, Peterborough lock horns with Swindon Town and Rochdale welcome Sheffield United to Spotland.
