Oxford United book place in Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final

2 February 2016

Oxford United sealed their place in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final for the first time in their history, beating Millwall 2-1 on aggregate.

The Yellows lost 1-0 to the visitors on the night after Lee Gregory’s second-half strike, but proceeded to the showpiece after Kemar Roofe’s double secured them a first-leg lead in January.

The goal gave the Lions momentum at the Kassam Stadium, but it was quickly lost when Mark Beevers was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Oxford held on to spark jubilant scenes in front of more than 10,000 people and book a trip to Wembley for the Final on Sunday 3rd April.

One of Fleetwood Town or Barnsley will meet them there, with the Northern Area Semi-Final second leg set to conclude on Thursday.
