Sky Bet EFL: Matchday round-up

3 December 2016

Norwich City and Fulham hit five goals in the Sky Bet Championship on Matchday 19 in an action-packed round of games.

The Canaries ended a run of five consecutive defeats by thumping Brentford 5-0, while Fulham recorded the same scoreline at home to Reading.

On Friday, Newcastle United lost 2-1 at Nottingham Forest, but they remain top of the division as Brighton could only draw 0-0 at Cardiff City.

The Magpies’ defeat was one of three matches live on Sky Sports, with Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 2-1 win at QPR on Thursday and Leeds United's 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday evening also played out in front of the cameras.

Elsewhere, Sheffield Wednesday climbed up to sixth by seeing off Preston North End 2-1, and that’s the same scoreline Burton chalked up at home to managerless Rotherham United to end a run of four winless matches.

Tom Pett and Fraser Franks found the net, before John Marquis restored Rovers’ two-goal cushion. Rowan Liburd reduced the deficit late on, but Doncaster held on to replace Carlisle United at the summit.

Elsewhere, Yeovil Town thumped Crawley Town 5-0 to move into the Play-Off places.

Otis Khan was at the double for the Glovers, who also had Tom Eaves, Ryan Hedges and Francois Zoko to thank for their goals.
