Sullay Kaikai was the hero for Brentford as the Bees kicked off Boxing Day's Sky Bet EFL action by drawing 2-2 at home to Cardiff City.
On loan from Crystal Palace, attacker Kaikai netted twice late on to see his side grab a point, and that was the first of 10 lively Boxing Day matches in the Sky Bet Championship. The ball hit the back of the net 34 times over the 10 matches, with five goals at Rotherham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Preston North End.
While the former sides both triumphed 3-2, beating Wigan Athletic and Bristol City respectively, Preston suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Leeds United.
That victory saw fifth-placed Leeds strengthen their place in the Play-Off zone, and that's also what Reading (3rd), Huddersfield Town (4th) and Sheffield Wednesday (6th) did.
A 1-0 scoreline saw the Owls beat leaders Newcastle; Huddersfield came from behind to see off Nottingham Forest 2-1, and Reading heaped more misery on Norwich City by winning 3-1. The Canaries have now lost eight of their last 10 matches.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa triumphed 2-1 over Burton Albion in the first ever league meeting between the sides.
On Tuesday, Brighton & Hove Albion took full advantage of the Magpies' slip-up by moving top of the league with a 3-0 win over Queens Park Rangers, before a Darren Bent penalty gave Derby County all three points against Birmingham City.

It all became a little tighter at the top of Sky Bet League One on Boxing Day after Scunthorpe played out a goalless draw away at Bradford City, while their closest challengers took full advantage.
Billy Sharp netted twice for Sheffield United - one of those being his 50th goal for the club - as the Blades beat rock-bottom Oldham 2-0 to move just a point off the summit.
Bolton, in third, got back to winning ways by seeing off Shrewsbury Town 2-0, and it was largely thanks to an unlikely source. Centre-back David Wheater scored two goals in four first-half minutes to ensure the Trotters moved within two points of leaders Scunthorpe.
Rochdale are fourth after they continued their climb up the division with a sixth win in eight games. The Dale defeated lowly Chesterfield 3-0.
Bury ended their 12-match losing streak with a 0-0 draw against Fleetwood Town, who had scored in every previous EFL game this season. The point was enough to take the Shakers out of the bottom four.
Port Vale were defeated 1-0 at home by Walsall and it ended up being Bruno Ribeiro's final match in charge. He was appointed in the summer and tendered his resignation following the defeat.
Elsewhere, Karl Robinson beat former side MK Dons for his first victory as Charlton boss, Billy Bodin netted a second-half hat-trick as Bristol Rovers piled more misery on Coventry City, and Marc Richards netted late as Northampton beat rivals Oxford 1-0.

Doncaster Rovers are the new leaders of Sky Bet League Two as they beat Notts County 1-0 to take advantage of Plymouth Argyle's draw against Wycombe Wanderers.
The Pilgrims led the sixth-placed Chairboys 3-1 just prior to the hour mark, but Adebayo Akinfenwa and Myles Weston found the net to earn a point and extend their unbeaten run to eight matches.
Rovers had Andy Williams to thank for their victory, with his 60th-minute strike the difference away at County, and enough for them to sit at the summit on goal difference.
Carlisle United could also have moved to the top, but they had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw at Crewe Alexandra.
Cambridge United (7th) made it five wins in a row with a 2-1 triumph at Stevenage, Portsmouth (4th) came from 2-0 down to beat bottom club Newport County, while Luton Town (5th) were the only Play-Off dwellers to lose, as they suffered a 1-0 reverse at the hands of Colchester United.
Towards the bottom, Accrington Stanley are now nine games without a win following a 2-0 defeat at Grimsby Town, and Cheltenham, who are in the bottom two alongside Newport, were beaten by the in-form Barnet.
