Rotherham United were delighted to be awarded with the Football Supporters’ Federation’s ‘Away Day of the Year’ trophy at the organisation’s annual awards ceremony in London this week.
Representatives from the club were present to accept the prize last Monday night in the capital, with the Millers seeing off competition from a host of clubs from the EFL and Premier League to claim the prize in the category.Sam Matterface was on hand to present the award on an evening which saw the likes of Jamie Carragher and Martin Tyler also scoop prizes for Pundit of the Year and Commentator of the Year respectively.
Rotherham United Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas was delighted at receiving the award and expressed his pride at being chosen as English football’s standout away day.
“As a club, we aim to make AESSEAL New York Stadium an environment that everyone can enjoy and it’s brilliant to see that people in the football world are appreciating our matchday experience,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.
“A lot of hard work and thought went into how we were going to accommodate away supporters when we built the stadium and since then we have implemented a number of ideas and initiatives which has resulted in our winning this prestigious award.
“I would also like to thank the home fans who play a vital role in the matchday experience at AESSEAL New York Stadium and for their unwavering backing again this season.”
