Gareth Ainsworth named Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month

9 December 2016

Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth has been named the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month for November.

Ainsworth didn’t panic during a difficult first three months of the season and reaped his reward in a perfect November during which Wycombe moved up from 21st to sixth, thanks to four successive victories, conceding just one goal in the process.

Ainsworth said: “It’s brilliant to be named Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month and I’m honoured to receive the award. We had four excellent league wins in November, including ending our wait for a victory away from home and conceding only one goal, and we hope to build on that with a good run now into December and over Christmas.

“It might be my name that takes the award but I have to recognise the efforts of my staff and all the players; they’ve won this prize. We’re together in everything we do and have a real team spirit, and I can’t thank them enough because they’ve been fantastic.”

George Burley chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel.

He said: “After a difficult start to the season Gareth’s hard work has really paid off this month. They had an impressive four game winning run, scoring seven goals and conceding only one.”

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit, Don Goodman, said: “After a testing October with only two points picked up, Ainsworth turned Wycombe’s fortunes around to pick up four straight league victories in November.

“He is now the fifth longest serving manager in the country and has built a great reputation for himself in his time at Wycombe.”
