Huddersfield Town join them on six points after they stunned Newcastle United in their first Championship game at St James’ Park. Jack Payne stole a late winner for the Terriers to leave Rafael Benitez’s side without a point from their first two fixtures.
Fulham were the third side to make it back-to-back wins at the start of the new campaign, after they won 2-1 away at Preston North End, while Barnsley recorded an impressive maiden three points at home to Derby County.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa secured victory for the first time since February by beating Rotherham United 3-0; Brentford defeated Ipswich Town 2-0 at Griffin Park and Birmingham City got their season rolling by winning 2-1 away at Leeds United.
There were also home wins for Wigan Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers, against Blackburn Rovers and Reading respectively, while Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday drew 0-0 in the evening kick-off.Â
On Friday, Brighton & Hove Albion registered their first win of 2016/17, comfortably seeing off Nottingham Forest 3-0 at the Amex Stadium.
The weekend's action closed with Cardiff City versus Queens Park Rangers, and it was the latter who took all three points to go to the top of the division thanks to second-half goals from Steven Caulker and Tjaronn Chery.Â

Gillingham made it two wins from two to top the early Sky Bet League One standings, beating Bury 2-1 at Priestfield Stadium.
The Gills, who narrowly missed out on the Play-Off places last time around, are joined at the summit by Bolton Wanderers, who backed up an impressive victory against Sheffield United by beating AFC Wimbledon 2-1 at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
On an entertaining afternoon, Milton Keynes Dons and Scunthorpe United were made to work hard for a point as they drew 2-2 with Millwall and Fleetwood Town respectively.
Kieran Agard struck a brace on his debut for the Dons to see them level, while the Iron netted twice in four minutes to earn a result at Highbury.
Chesterfield and Port Vale both recorded convincing home wins, while the spoils were shared in the games between Charlton Athletic and Northampton Town and Sheffield United and Rochdale.
