Sky Bet League 2: Matchday 43 preview

19 April 2016

There's a full schedule of Sky Bet League 2 matches taking place during the week, with four sides still in the hunt for automatic promotion.

Oxford United's advantage in second place has been cut to just one point following their 3-2 defeat to Luton Town at the weekend.

Bristol Rovers, Accrington Stanley and Plymouth Argyle are all ready to pounce should Michael Appleton's side slip up against Newport County at Rodney Parade.

Here's a full list of fixtures taking place in Sky Bet League 2 on Matchday 43 - all are 7.45pm kick-offs:

Tuesday 19th April 2016

Barnet v Notts County
Cambridge United v Morecambe
Carlisle United v Luton Town
Dagenham & Redbridge v AFC Wimbledon
Exeter City v Mansfield Town
Hartlepool United v Accrington Stanley
Leyton Orient v Plymouth Argyle
Newport County v Oxford United
Northampton Town v Crawley Town
Stevenage v Bristol Rovers
Wycombe Wanderers v Yeovil Town
York City v Portsmouth

Rovers, currently third on 75 points, travel to Stevenage, while Accrington – only outside the top three on goal difference – take on Hartlepool at Victoria Park.

Plymouth are a point further back and make the journey to Leyton Orient, where Andy Hessenthaler will be looking to record his second successive win since taking over managerial duties at the Play-Off chasing O's.

Victory for Portsmouth would keep them in the automatic promotion chase – they travel to York, who could be relegated even if they can claim maximum points for the first time since mid-February.

The race is on for a clutch of teams to claim the final Play-Off position. This is currently being held by AFC Wimbledon who should maintain seventh place if they can avoid defeat at already-relegated Dagenham & Redbridge.

Three teams are tied on 63 points, two shy of the Dons, and they're all at home on Matchday 43. The aforementioned Orient are one of those, along with Wycombe and Exeter, who host Yeovil and Mansfield respectively.

Just further adrift are Carlisle and Cambridge and they are also at home, where they will face Luton and Morecambe.

Northampton Town claimed the Sky Bet League 2 crown at the weekend, and they return to Sixfields to take on Crawley, while Barnet lock horns with Notts County at the Hive.
