Sky Bet League 2: Matchday 41 review

9 April 2016

Northampton Town clinched automatic promotion to Sky Bet League 1 following Saturday's 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers at Sixfields Stadium on Matchday 41.

The Cobblers looked on course to clinch all three points having gone 2-0 up and, although the visitors came back to clinch a point, it wasn't enough to halt the celebrations.

Oxford United edged closer to joining Northampton in League 1 following their 5-1 win over Crawley Town, while Accrington Stanley moved into the top three after defeating Luton Town 2-0 at Kenilworth Road.

As a result, the Dons moved above Wycombe Wanderers into seventh in the table, with the Chairboys only able to draw 1-1 with relegation-threatened York City.

Hartlepool United continued their fine form after a 5-2 triumph at Morecambe, and Exeter City beat Yeovil Town 2-0 at Huish Park.
