Sky Bet League 2: Matchday 41 preview

8 April 2016

There's plenty to play for in Sky Bet League 2 on Matchday 41, with big games at the top and bottom of the table.

Just two points separate the four sides below Northampton Town in the race for automatic promotion, in what is set to be another thrilling weekend of action.

Here’s the Matchday 41 schedule in Sky Bet League 2, with all games getting under way at 3pm:

Saturday 9th April 2016

Barnet v Leyton Orient
Carlisle United v Mansfield Town
Crawley Town v Oxford United
Dagenham & Redbridge v Portsmouth
Luton Town v Accrington Stanley
Morecambe v Hartlepool United
Newport County v Cambridge United
Northampton Town v Bristol Rovers
Notts County v Stevenage
Plymouth Argyle v AFC Wimbledon
Yeovil Town v Exeter City
York City v Wycombe Wanderers

The table-topping Cobblers could have guaranteed their promotion last weekend, but results didn’t go quite to plan. However, it’s in their own hands this time around and three points would see them up.

They face a tough test in the form of Bristol Rovers, though, who have won seven of their last eight games and picked up a Manager and Player of the Month double for their fine form.

Sandwiched in between the pair are Oxford United, who travel to Crawley Town on the back of Sunday’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final defeat to Barnsley.

Two points adrift are Plymouth Argyle and Accrington Stanley, who lock horns with Play-Off chasing AFC Wimbledon and Luton Town.

The race for the Play-Offs is set to go to the wire, but it’s Portsmouth and Wycombe Wanderers who currently hold all the aces. They both go on the road this weekend to two sides in desperate need of points - Dagenham & Redbridge and York City. The latter pair currently occupy the two relegation places and are well adrift, with closest targets Stevenage 10 points from safety ahead of their trip to Notts County, who lie 20th.

Carlisle United - just a point outside the top seven - welcome manager Keith Curle’s former employers Mansfield Town to Cumbria, and Leyton Orient face a London derby at Barnet as they bid to keep pace with the top seven.

Elsewhere, Exeter City and Cambridge United will still fancy their chances of a shot at the Play-Offs, and they visit Yeovil Town and Newport County respectively, while Morecambe take on Hartlepool United at the Globe Arena.
