Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 45 preview

29 April 2016

With just two games left it's all to play for in Sky Bet League 1 with issues to sort at both ends of the table on Matchday 45.

Wigan Athletic will seal promotion if they can avoid defeat at Blackpool, and if they better the result of Burton Albion then they will be able to celebrate as champions.

Wigan Athletic: Promotion and the title? Seaside success in sight

Here are the full list of fixtures being played in Sky Bet League 1 on Matchday 45. All are 3pm kick-offs unless otherwise stated:

Saturday 30th April 2016

Blackpool v Wigan Athletic (12.30pm)
Barnsley v Colchester United
Burton Albion v Gillingham
Chesterfield v Bury
Coventry City v Sheffield United
Crewe Alexandra v Doncaster Rovers
Millwall v Oldham Athletic
Rochdale v Swindon Town
Scunthorpe United v Port Vale
Shrewsbury Town v Peterborough United
Southend United v Bradford City

Monday 2nd May 2016

Walsall v Fleetwood Town (12.15pm - live on Sky Sports)

Blackpool require points themselves to aid their quest to avoid the drop. They, along with Doncaster, cannot be relegated on Saturday but anything less than a win could signal trouble ahead of Fleetwood's trip to Walsall on Monday.

Rovers are unbeaten in three and travel to already-relegated Crewe Alexandra, who haven't won since early February.

The aforementioned Burton, currently in second place, could be celebrating promotion if they can overcome Gillingham at the Pirelli Stadium. However, they will have to wait 48 hours to see if Walsall drop points against the Cod Army.

Ups and downs: The state of play in the Sky Bet Football League

Millwall, Bradford City and Barnsley could all confirm their positions in the Play-Offs. The Lions are at home to Oldham, Bradford travel to Southend, while Barnsley entertain Colchester United.

Shrewsbury Town and Chesterfield can both secure their Sky Bet League 1 status for at least another season if they can claim wins in their respective games.

The Shrews are at home to Peterborough, who parted company with manager Graham Westley earlier in the week, while the Spireites host mid-table Bury.

Elsewhere, Coventry City take on Sheffield United at the Ricoh Area with the Blades having to win to maintain any chance of a top-six place.

Scunthorpe, who have won their last four games, are making a late charge for the Play-Offs and this weekend they lock horns with Port Vale. At Spotland, Rochdale take on Swindon Town.
