Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 43 review

19 April 2016

Leaders Wigan Athletic and second-placed Burton Albion played out a 1-1 draw in Sky Bet League 1 on Matchday 43.

Michael Jacobs gave the travelling Latics the lead but Tom Naylor equalised for the Brewers before the break and that’s how it stayed.

Walsall, in third, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with Swindon Town, and Barnsley left it late to overcome Peterborough United.

That Tykes victory saw them close the gap on out-of-form Gillingham, who sit in the lowest Play-Off place.

The Gills drew with ninth-placed Rochdale, who trail the top six by four points.

Colchester United avoided relegation by drawing with already-relegated Crewe Alexandra, while Doncaster Rovers, in 22nd, drew with Chesterfield, cutting the gap to safety to five points.
