Sky Bet Football League midweek preview

12 April 2016

There's midweek action across all three divisions on Tuesday night, with Middlesbrough having the opportunity to return to the Sky Bet Championship summit.

Here's a look at the matches being played, all of which are 7.45pm kick-offs:

Tuesday 12th April 2016

Sky Bet Championship

Birmingham City v Leeds United
Middlesbrough v Reading

Sky Bet League 1

Barnsley v Oldham Athletic
Gillingham v Walsall

Sky Bet League 2

Luton Town v Dagenham & Redbridge
Notts County v Hartlepool United

On Tuesday, in the Sky Bet Championship, Middlesbrough can leapfrog Burnley and return to the top of the table. Aitor Karanka's side welcome Reading to the Riverside, knowing that victory will put them two points clear of the Clarets with five matches to play.

In the other game, at St. Andrew's, Birmingham City require all three points against Leeds United to realistically keep any hopes of a Play-Off place alive. They are currently nine points behind Sheffield Wednesday with tonight's fixture their game in hand.

In Sky Bet League 1, two of the top six clash at Priestfield with Gillingham taking on Walsall. Justin Edinburgh's side have kept five clean sheets in their last six games but are only above the Saddlers on goal difference. A win for either side would move them above Bradford City and into third place in the standings.

Barnsley - the side directly beneath those two - face Oldham at Oakwell, and will close the gap to sixth place with victory. Paul Heckingbottom's side are six points behind the pair having played a game more, but the Latics are unbeaten in four, winning their last three.

In Sky Bet League 2, Dagenham & Redbridge would move off the bottom if they can overcome Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

John Still's Daggers are 11 points from safety with six games to play but will be encouraged by the fact that the manager's former employers have only won five games at home all season.

Hartlepool United, who have won six of their last nine matches, travel to Meadow Lane to play a Notts County team unbeaten in their most recent three outings.
