Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 45 review

30 April 2016

Sheffield Wednesday secured a Sky Bet Championship Play-Off place with a convincing 3-0 victory over close challengers Cardiff City.

Gary Hooper netted twice in addition to Lee Peltier’s own goal to book the Owls' spot in the end-of-season showdowns - crushing Cardiff’s hopes in the process.

With Middlesbrough having drawn on Friday night and Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion not in action until Monday, there were no other decisive results in the top half of the table.

In the West London derby, Brentford beat Fulham 3-0, while Ipswich Town prevailed in a dramatic game against Milton Keynes Dons - winning 3-2 at Portman Road.

Elsewhere, Jonathan Kodjia scored twice as Bristol City thumped Huddersfield Town 4-0 at Ashton Gate, Charlton Athletic won 2-1 away at Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers beat Rotherham United 1-0 to end the Millers’ 11-game unbeaten run.
