Fleetwood Town – 19th on 47 points. Blackpool – 21st on 45 points.
This weekend's Fylde Coast derby couldn't have more riding on it, with Fleetwood Town and Blackpool both in the thick of the Sky Bet League 1 relegation battle. It's a simple equation – a win for Blackpool would lift them out of the relegation zone, above their rivals, with only two games to play. A victory for Fleetwood, meanwhile, would see them move at least five points clear of the bottom four, all but securing their Sky Bet League 1 status.
“There’s no hiding the magnitude of the game as it’s a massive one for both sides,” Fleetwood boss Steven Pressley told the club's official website.
“It’ll have a significant influence on who remains in the league come the last game of the season.
“It’s a game where both teams must win for the same reasons, so it’s a very significant game and one I’m looking forward to.”
In the opposite dugout, Neil McDonald told Blackpool's official website: “We need to beat Fleetwood on Saturday.
“It's all in our own hands, we've got to take each game as it comes and not look too far ahead.
"We need a good result against Fleetwood to put us above them in the league.”
Form on the Fylde Coast
Hosts Fleetwood lost 1-0 to Millwall last time out and that ended a run of five unbeaten matches – but they only picked up one victory in that period, drawing the other four.
Blackpool also lost last time out, to Rochdale – their second successive defeat. That followed an undefeated four-game stretch which featured three wins – form that gave them hope of survival.
These two have only met twice before and the Tangerines have been victorious on both occasions, securing a 5-1 FA Cup win in 2012, before a 1-0 triumph in the reverse clash this term.
