Wigan Athletic striker Jordy Hiwula delighted to get off the mark

7 September 2015

Wigan Athletic striker Jordy Hiwula was ‘very happy’ after netting the winner in the Latics’ match against Chesterfield.

Wigan scored three times in the final 10 minutes to overturn a two-goal deficit at the Proact Stadium, with Hiwula’s strike ensuring his side claimed the three points.

It was the 21-year-old’s maiden goal for the Latics after signing from Huddersfield Town on loan, and he was delighted to get off the mark.

“I’m a very happy striker,” he said to Wigan’s official site. “Scoring my first goal for the club after hitting the bar with my earlier chance in the game was really pleasing.

“As a striker, you have to carry on going, get a miss out of your head and go again.

“All the fans were jumping up and down when I scored, it was a crazy 10 minutes and the boys did really well to go to the end and that’s what can happen if you do that.

“For now my aim is come off the bench, make a difference and get more match fitness under my belt and then hopefully get a starting place.”
