Stopping the rot: Scunthorpe United v Blackpool

4 September 2015

Scunthorpe United’s match against Blackpool on Saturday pits a historical trend up against a recent run of form.

If Blackpool are to lose on Saturday, it will mean that their wait for an away victory will go beyond 500 days, but the Iron have tended to be welcome opponents for the Lancashire side.

The Tangerines have lost just once in their last 10 meetings with Scunthorpe, but they will never have faced them after suffering such a sustained winless streak.

Blackpool’s last away win came against Wigan Athletic way back on 26th April 2014, when goals from Andy Keogh and Stephen Dobbie gave them a 2-0 success.

What about their form this season?

As Blackpool’s continued away misery would suggest, Neil McDonald’s team have started the campaign disappointingly.

The side are still looking for their first win in all competitions, and they currently prop up the Sky Bet League 1 table having been hammered 4-0 by Walsall in their most recent outing.

Scunthorpe, meanwhile, have had a fairly mixed opening, as a host of summer signings begin to settle at Glanford Park.

The Iron have beaten Crewe Alexandra and drawn with Millwall and Colchester United, but defeats to Burton Albion and Wigan Athletic have blotted their form book.

Don’t miss it!

Will Scunthorpe overcome recent history and defeat Blackpool, or will the Tangerines finally end their wait for an away victory? Find out by following @SkyBetLeague1 on Twitter, where we’ll have live updates.
