Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 8 review

19 September 2015

Reading moved up to sixth in the Sky Bet Championship with a routine 2-0 win at Bristol City on matchday 8.

Nick Blackman slotted home the first inside nine minutes after being teed up by Garath McCleary, who then turned goalscorer by finding the net four minutes later.

The three points saw the Royals into the top six, heading up a batch of four teams on 12 points.

Middlesbrough moved within three points of leaders Brighton & Hove Albion after beating Nottingham Forest 2-1 live on Sky Sports, with the Seagulls being held to a goalless draw at Wolves.

Elsewhere, Blackburn Rovers sealed their first win of the season in style, hitting three past Charlton Athletic without reply, and Rotherham United also got off the mark by seeing off Cardiff City, but they remain bottom.

On Friday, Ipswich Town and Birmingham City shared the spoils in front of the Sky Sports cameras, battling out a 1-1 draw.
