A charity which offers professional support to more than 100 people with learning difficulties has received the makeover of a lifetime after winning a national competition.
MK Snap in Milton Keynes won the Johnstone’s Paint Community Spirit campaign – run in conjunction with football clubs who competed in last season’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy - and has received a re-decoration of its entire facility.Johnstone’s Paint provided expert colour and paint advice to MK Snap staff, as well as all the materials for the re-decoration. The work was carried out by leading commercial facilities management contractors Mitie.
Milton Keynes Dons supported the MK Snap bid for glory in the Community Spirit competition and goalkeeper Charlie Burns was on hand to lend his support to the painting efforts.
The competition saw community groups and charities around the UK invited to submit applications to win a re-decoration of its facility.
Maureen McColl, chief executive of MK Snap, said: “We were extremely thrilled to win the Johnstone’s Paint Community Spirit competition and the difference the re-decoration has made to the centre is incredible.
“Our learners all have a very positive outlook on life and now they have a colourful and vibrant environment in which to come into every day.
“We are very grateful to Johnstone’s Paint for both running the competition and providing the product for the work to be carried out, and the quality of the work that Mitie has done is exceptional.
“It was fantastic to have the support of MK Dons who we have a close relationship with and this will make a huge difference to the lives of each and every one of our learners.”
More than 50 community projects from around the country originally entered the Johnstone’s Paint Community Spirit competition after being invited to submit applications to win a re-decoration of their facilities.
MK Snap was shortlisted along with projects backed by Portsmouth, Preston North End and Dagenham & Redbridge football clubs and came out on top of a national public vote.
Ben Wilde of Johnstone’s Paint said: “We could not have wished for a better winner of our inaugural Community Spirit campaign.
“The learners create a fantastic atmosphere at the centre every day and it’s fitting that they now have colourful surroundings to match.
“We are hugely grateful to the people at Mitie for their support in carrying out the work at MK Snap, and for MK Dons for their backing of the project.
“We are delighted with the final outcome and confident the work will make a real difference to the lives of the learners and the community as a whole.
“We also thank all League 1 and League 2 football clubs and their communities who supported the initiative.”
