Jay Rodriguez was delighted with Southampton's performance as they romped to a 6-0 win over Milton Keynes Dons in Round 3 of the Capital One Cup.The front man scored twice – along with strike partners Shane Long and Saido Mane – as the Saints put their Sky Bet Championship opponents to the sword, and the 26-year-old praised his side's sharpness in front of goal.
“We are very happy with how it went. We were ruthless in front of goal and the team spirit was good,” Rodriguez told the Saints' official website.
“We knew that MK Dons are a good side and we knew we needed to put them under pressure. We came in at half-time and said we had to treat it as 0-0 and go and get more goals.
“We never took it for granted, which was brilliant from the team. We said we wanted to keep working right until the end and that’s what we did.”
