Leyton Orient boss Ian Hendon has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month for August.
Orient’s five wins brought 15 points and a 13-3 goal differential, bringing hope and banishing the memory of last season’s dismal relegation struggles in Sky Bet League 1.Hendon said: “I am delighted to pick up this award, but really it is an award for the team and we wouldn’t have achieved this without the hard work of everyone at the club. Everyone is on board and the support we have received is fantastic.
“While we are fully aware of the good start we have made, it is only a start and we are five games into a 46-game season. It is now my job to try and maintain that good start over the course of the campaign.”
George Burley, who chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said: “Ian has the only 100 per cent record in the Sky Bet Football League. Winning all five games and having a 13-3 goal difference is an incredible performance from Leyton Orient.”
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Ian has undoubtedly taken control of a squad with a great deal of talent, but being able to turn that into results isn’t always the easiest task, as Fabio Liverani found last year.
“With a 100 per cent record so far, Orient fans will be hoping that they can banish memories of last season and return to Sky Bet League 1 at the first attempt.”
The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town boss George Burley, Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
