Leyton Orient midfielder Dean Cox has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month for August.Cox was the general behind Orient’s perfect record in August. Given a free, all-action role at the tip of a midfield diamond, his energy and creative nous were evident as he claimed his five assists.
The diminutive midfielder also scored two goals during the first month of the season, including a stunning free-kick against Dagenham & Redbridge.
“He has produced some fine performances throughout the month and it is great for both the club and the team to have won both awards for the month.”
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Dean Cox has reinvigorated this Leyton Orient side and looks dangerous every time he touches the ball.
“Adding two goals to four brilliant assists, he has been at the heart of all of Orient’s creativity and Ian Hendon will know it is key to keep him in this form for Orient’s 100 per cent record to continue.”
Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Cox has been instrumental in Leyton Orient’s perfect start to the season playing in an advanced midfield role he has chipped in with two goals and numerous assists already.”
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Manager of the Month is chaired by former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, along with Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
