Darren Kelly leaves Oldham Athletic

12 September 2015

Oldham Athletic have parted company with Darren Kelly, following Saturday's 5-1 Sky Bet League 1 defeat to Peterborough United.

Oldham Athletic have parted company with Darren Kelly following Saturday's 5-1 Sky Bet League 1 defeat to Peterborough United, with David Dunn taking over on an interim basis.

Peterborough went into the game managerless after Dave Robertson departed the club last week, and a comfortable Posh victory saw Kelly suffer the same fate.

The 36-year-old was appointed at Boundary Park in the summer, but the latest loss leaves the Latics 19th in the division having picked up just seven points from the first seven games.

A statement on the club's offical website read: "Oldham Athletic can confirm that first team manager, Darren Kelly, is no longer in charge of first team affairs at the club.

"The Board of Directors would like to place on record their thanks to Darren for his contribution to the development of the club during his tenure and wish him well for the future.

"The club will not be seeking any applications for the role of first team manager at this time and can also confirm that all the current coaching staff will remain in their respective roles."

Kelly becomes the third managerial casualty in League 1, following in the footsteps of Robertson and former Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov.
