Colchester United and Millwall were the victors in the two Sky Bet League 1 fixtures on Tuesday evening.
For Tony Humes' Colchester, it was a first win of the season as they shocked Sheffield United 3-2 at Bramall Lane. The U's went 2-0 ahead inside 23 minutes with a brace from George Moncur, but relinquished their advantage after the break as Billy Sharp's penalty and a goal from Martyn Woolford levelled the score.
Marvin Sordell restored Colchester's lead eight minutes from time, but the Blades almost equalised again just two minutes later after George Elokobi saw red for a foul on Sharp in the area. Having won the penalty, Sharp took from the spot once more, but this time was kept out by goalkeeper Jamie Jones, who ensured the three points travelled back south.
There was also an away triumph in the other League 1 fixture, between Port Vale and Millwall, as goals from Mark Beevers and Lee Gregory saw the Lions to a 2-0 scoreline, sending them into the top half of the Sky Bet League 1 table.
