Andre Gray's home debut for Burnley 'a dream come true'

14 September 2015

Burnley's record signing Andre Gray described his home debut as 'a dream come true' after scoring his first goal for the club in their 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Gray, who recently joined the Clarets from Brentford, scored his new side's third goal of the afternoon as they recorded a third straight Sky Bet Championship victory, to move up to fifth in the standings.

The striker also set up Matty Taylor for the goal that put Burnley 2-1 up, and Gray was happy to have played an important part in his first Turf Moor outing.

“It’s a dream come true really,” Gray told the club's official website. “Every striker wants to make their debut and score a goal, but to get an assist as well and most importantly a win was great.

“I don’t think I had the best of games to be honest but it was a relief to get off the mark and hopefully I can kick on.

“When I won the ball back it was a case of staying composed and making the right decision – thankfully I did!”

Since making the move from the Bees, Gray has been working hard to improve his game and believes Burnley is the right place to do just that.

“I’ve done a lot of work during the international break on my fitness and it paid off, particularly in the last 10 to 15 minutes,” Gray added.

"My work rate is already higher and hopefully my quality will come with that. It’s the perfect place for me to come to develop and be the best that I can be.”
