York City begin life without Russ Wilcox at Crawley Town

30 October 2015

Managerless York City make the trip to Crawley Town in Sky Bet League 2 this weekend, having dismissed Russ Wilcox earlier this week.

After just over a year at the helm, Wilcox was relieved of his duties with York sitting dangerously close to the relegation zone. The Minstermen are winless in nine games and 21st in the table, just three points clear of the bottom two.

Richard Cresswell will be taking care of proceedings this weekend, while the club begin their search for a new manager.

They are up against a Crawley side who haven't been enjoying the greatest of form themselves this term, following relegation from Sky Bet League 1 last season. However, three wins from their last four have elevated the Reds up to 17th, six points clear of their weekend opponents.

The two clubs have never faced each other in The Football League, although they did meet 14 times between 2004 and 2011 in the Conference, with York edging the head-to-head contest with five wins to Crawley's four.
