Walsall host Gillingham on Matchday 16 in a battle between the top two teams in Sky Bet League 1.It's the visiting Gills who are currently setting the pace after taking 31 points from their first 15 games, giving them a two-point advantage over their weekend opponents.
The battling qualities of these two sides were evident last week as they both rescued draws in stoppage time, and this fixture has all the makings of a tight affair too, based on recent history.
In the past six encounters, the points have been shared, but Gillingham's winless stretch on the road at the Saddlers extends all the way back to February 1992. The last three-point haul came in January 2008, when Walsall grabbed a 2-1 home triumph.
Both sides have lost just twice in the league this season, however Walsall's two defeats have come at their Banks's Stadium, which will give Justin Edinburgh and his troops some confidence going into this one.
The first of 109 meetings between these clubs finished 7-4 to Walsall. That may seem unlikely this time around, but these two in-form sides could certainly serve up another classic this weekend.
