Sky Bet League 2: Matchday 14 review

20 October 2015

Sky Bet League 2 leaders Plymouth Argyle suffered their first defeat in eight at the hands of Oxford United, but remain top of the division after Matchday 14.

The Pilgrims were undone by a Liam Sercombe strike, and that lifted the U’s up to third.

Argyle maintained their place at the summit, though, after Stevenage scored a last-gasp leveller at second-placed Portsmouth to draw 1-1.

Mansfield Town also scored a late goal, for a 1-0 victory at Yeovil Town, and the Glovers fell into the bottom two as a consequence.

Dagenham & Redbridge were the team to climb out of the relegation zone, thanks to a 2-2 draw at York City.

Elsewhere, Northampton Town are up to fifth following a 3-2 win over Carlisle United, while AFC Wimbledon ran out 4-3 winners in a seven-goal thriller at Accrington Stanley.

On Wednesday night, Exeter City recorded a 1-0 win over Cambridge United courtesy of a first-half strike from Tom Nichols.
