Sky Bet League 2: Matchday 12 review

11 October 2015

Plymouth Argyle returned to the top of Sky Bet League 2 with a Sunday afternoon success at Notts County.

The Pilgrims were knocked off their perch 24 hours prior, but Reuben Reid's brace at Meadow Lane saw Derek Adams' side reclaim their place at the summit.

It was Portsmouth who topped the table on Saturday evening after a 3-1 win at Cambridge United.

The U’s took the lead through Robbie Simpson but were reduced to 10 men when Mark Roberts saw red, and Pompey took full advantage to come away with all three points.

Oxford United are level on points with Portsmouth, after a 1-0 home success over AFC Wimbledon, while Mansfield Town, Accrington Stanley and Northampton Town also won to keep things tight at the top.

The Stags beat bottom club Newport County 3-0, Stanley saw off Barnet 2-1, and that was also the scoreline that Northampton recorded against Hartlepool United.

Elsewhere, Crawley Town won their first home match of the season by beating Leyton Orient 3-2, while, in the division's second Sunday game, Exeter City and Stevenage shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller.
