Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 16 preview

30 October 2015

Sky Bet League 1's Matchday 16 promises to be action-packed, with all 24 teams in action at 3pm on Saturday.

Gillingham sit top of the pile going into the weekend, closely followed by Walsall and Burton Albion, while Crewe Alexandra prop up the standings.

Here's what's coming up on Matchday 16 in Sky Bet League 1:

Saturday 31st October

Bury v Blackpool
Coventry City v Peterborough United
Crewe Alexandra v Sheffield United
Doncaster Rovers v Colchester United
Fleetwood Town v Chesterfield
Millwall v Bradford City
Oldham Athletic v Burton Albion
Port Vale v Shrewsbury Town
Scunthorpe United v Barnsley
Southend United v Rochdale
Walsall v  Gillingham
Wigan Athletic v Swindon Town

Leaders Gillingham go to Walsall for their 109th meeting in all competitions. Interestingly, the pair have shared the spoils in their last six clashes, stretching back to January 2008 when the Saddlers triumphed 2-1.

At the other end of the spectrum, Oldham Athletic and Burton Albion go head-to-head for the first time in The Football League. While the Brewers are third, Oldham are 18th after registering just one victory in 13.

Swindon are also on a poor run of form – without a win in nine, losing seven of those – and face a tough test against Wigan Athletic, who have risen into the Play-Off places on the back of an eight-match undefeated stretch.

Crewe Alexandra prop up the division on 10 points ahead of a weekend game against Sheffield United, while Blackpool go to Bury, who they haven't overcome since 1997, with the chance to extend their five game unbeaten spell.

Movember 2015

The Football League and Mitre have teamed up to back the campaign by using a special ‘Mo’ branded Delta Hyperseam Fluo ball in all of this weekend’s fixtures.
