Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 14 preview

20 October 2015

Gillingham returned to the top of Sky Bet League 1 in matchday 13, and they host Scunthorpe United in a full Tuesday schedule.

Swindon Town welcome Oldham Athletic to the County Ground, and they will be under the stewardship of their stand-in manager - club chairman Lee Power.

Here are Tuesday's Sky Bet League 1 fixtures, with all games getting under way at 7:45pm:

Tuesday 20th October

Barnsley v Walsall
Blackpool v Millwall
Bradford City v Bury
Burton Albion v Crewe Alexandra
Chesterfield v Southend United
Colchester United v Port Vale
Gillingham v Scunthorpe United
Peterborough United v Wigan Athletic
Rochdale v Coventry City
Sheffield United v Fleetwood Town
Shrewsbury Town v Doncaster Rovers
Swindon Town v Oldham Athletic

A 2-0 loss at Millwall cost Mark Cooper his job at the weekend and Lee Power will lead out his troops against Oldham, who are directly below the Robins due to the narrowest of goal differences.

Gillingham, Walsall and Burton are all battling it out for the place at the summit and it's the Gills who currently sit at the top, but they have lost the past five league encounters against their opponents Scunthorpe.

Burton host struggling Crewe, and the Saddlers visit Barnsley, while Bury - unbeaten in 11 - are only three points off the pace and they take on Bradford in a notoriously tight affair. The last seven meetings have been settled by the odd goal, with five of those finishing 1-0.

The big winners in Matchday 13 were Wigan and Fleetwood, who won 5-0 and 4-0 respectively. The Latics are at Peterborough United - still unbeaten under Graham Westley - and the Cod Army take on Sheffield United in what is just the third meeting between the clubs. The Blades failed to come out on top in either encounter last season.

Elsewhere, Joe Cole is set to make his Coventry City debut against Rochdale, after the England international joined on loan from Aston Villa.
