Sky Bet League 1: Matchday 12 preview

9 October 2015

There's a 10-game schedule taking place in Sky Bet League 1 this weekend, with a top-of-the-table clash in store.

Second-placed Walsall host leaders Burton Albion at Banks's Stadium, and a win for the Saddlers will propel them above the Brewers in the standings.

Here are all of the Saturday Sky Bet League 1 games, which all kick-off at 3pm:

Saturday 10th October

Barnsley v Crewe Alexandra
Bury v Wigan Athletic
Chesterfield v Gillingham
Fleetwood Town v Coventry City
Oldham Athletic v Scunthorpe United
Sheffield United v Rochdale
Shrewsbury Town v Colchester United
Southend United v Port Vale
Swindon Town v Peterborough United
Walsall v Burton Albion

Walsall and Burton haven't been on the end of a defeat in 10 League games collectively (in each of their last five), and they've only lost three times between them all season.

The travelling Burton sit top with 25 points, three ahead of Dean Smith's side, but the latter have the stronger goal difference tally, meaning they'll hit the summit with victory.

Level on points with Walsall are Bury, who boast an even longer run of eight games without loss, and they've won the last six of those. The Shakers welcome Wigan Athletic to Gigg Lane, with the Latics having drawn in each of their last three.

Fleetwood Town can bounce back from eight games without a victory this weekend with a new manager at the helm. Steven Pressley took the post in midweek, and his first test will be against his former employers, Coventry City.

Alongside Coventry in the top six of the table are Gillingham and Rochdale, who face trips to Chesterfield and Sheffield United respectively, while Southend United and Port Vale - who've both been rising up the division of late - face off at Roots Hall.

Two of five teams on 11 points at the foot of the table are Oldham Athletic and Scunthorpe United, who lock horns, and bottom side Crewe Alexandra face a trip to Barnsley.
